The Annual Highway Association Meeting was held at the Town of Belfast Municipal Building on Tuesday, December 4th, 2018.

This meeting includes our yearly toy drive for the Action Angels of Allegany County. We have achieved a new level of donations each of the last 4 years and hope to continue that record in 2019. We are the largest single donor of toys to Action Angels due to the generosity of our membership and wish to thank all of those who donated toys to this cause.

Attendance was fantastic with 23 of 29 Towns present and 95 members total enjoying the

fine prime rib luncheon provided by Carlin’s Catering.

The business meeting included a vote for bylaws changes and election of 2019 officers as follows:

President - Kevin “Fred” Demick, Town of Angelica

First VP – Dean Arnold, Town of Wellsville

Second VP – Brian Matteson, Town of Willing

Sec./Treasurer – Rick Hall, Village of Cuba

Executive Committee:

Kevin Slack – Town of Granger

Ben Reynolds – Town of Genesee

Dan Ford – Town of Alma

Gary Faulkner – Village of Richburg

Don Kernan – Dolomite

Mike Lublin – Chemung Supply

Logan Neill – Suit-Kote

Tom Windus – Allegany County DPW

Paul Miller – Event Coordinator

We want to express our appreciation to Jesse Griffith, Town of Grove for his long service as Association Secretary and to Guy James, Allegany Co. DPW Supt. for his many years as Executive Committee member.

We wish you both well in your retirements and don’t forget to come to future meetings!

The Association donated a new laptop computer to the Town of Centerville to help reopen means of communication lost in the recent highway department fire. The Town of Centerville highway shop, highway office and housed equipment were a total loss. Centerville is in snowbelt country compounding the devastation caused by the fire. Member towns are assisting with equipment when possible and we hope to see the Town recover in due time.

The Highway Association donated two Motorola CP200D Portable High Band radios as prizes for a drawing, entry eligible only to those Towns present at the meeting. The winners were: Town of Alma Superintendent Dan Ford and Town of Amity Superintendent Bill Bigelow.

The meeting was enjoyable for all, much business was conducted, awards, prizes and LOTS of toys were received! We can only hope to have a bigger one next year!

We once more wish to express our gratitude to all those who donated toys and to Action Angels for the work they do, not only at Christmas but throughout the year.

250 Allegany County families received donations last Christmas!

 Merry Christmas Everyone!!!
